To be an entrepreneur, you have to be focused and determined but also incredibly well connected. It’s the only way to succeed when you’re starting from the ground up. If you don’t have any connections now, rest assured that there are plenty of ways for you to grow your network so that you can start growing a successful business.

  1. Start with the People You Already Know

A lot of people believe that being an entrepreneur involves calling up random people to tell them about your business idea or attending events targeted at entrepreneurs. While doing these things can be helpful, you shouldn’t start with them. The best place to start would be to reach out to people who you already have a relationship with. From there, you can start expanding your network one by one.

  1. Help Other People First

Before you start asking people for help, be sure to offer it yourself first. This is a great way to plant seeds and make connections with people. People don’t forget the good deeds you have done for them; chances are, they’ll be more than happy to reciprocate when you need them to. You do have to be patient, however, and learn that your actions may not always be returned. Regardless, it’s important to help people when you can.

  1. Introduce the Right People

People will begin to trust you more and more if you’ve managed to introduce them to someone who can be of value to them. Perhaps you know two people who are interested in reaching the same goal, yet have different sources of information or run in different networks. You must simply make sure to make introductions only when you know for certain that both parties will benefit from them. When you feel as if you may have a possible connection in mind, be sure to explain to each person why you think they should meet one another before actually introducing them. This way, you’re not wasting anyone’s time.
